beautiful. one of the most striking spider webs I ever saw belonged to an orb weaver (I think) who made a web that went from the lowest branch of a small tree to the ground with a 5 foot diameter circle - I almost walked into it - and the spider was huge! harmless, well ok, the bite would hurt but it wasnt poisonous.

sounds awesome! none of these were quite that big--the biggest from this morning was about 3ft in diameter. unfortunately, many of the pics didn't even turn out--you could barely see the webs. they were everywhere this morning!

i need to learn more about my camera and get some decent photo editing software.
